Perhaps some sparking of thought in the cultural considerations of Keller.
Is there a drive to enforce marriage and breeding outside the groups.  Do the various gangs desire exogamy to protect genetic diversity. Would the outcome of violent competitions dictate who breeds.

We may have already covered this material, but hey, it's been a while.

Came across the terms exogamy and endogamy in the Analog.  Interesting terms, and a piece of inspiration.

• How does this society work
• If the Bell system is fully designed to bring about the desired outcomes of Dyson construction and Generational ships construction, what design was put into maintaining the society of workers.
• cultural controls
• infrastructure controls
• genetic controls
• Would there be separate castes
• manual labor space rock miners
• technically adept workers fabricating the finished materials from the raw ore
• even higher up technicians, implementing final construction and installation
• channel a little Brave New World here?
• Who's in power
• I'm morally in a agreement with the aim of the Bell system
• But it's the pursuit of the mystery that would be interesting
• what form does the system take
• where did it come from
• where is it going
• what is the triumph, the goal... both in the character's personal journey, and in the character of Mankind as a whole
• what kind of choice was made to change Man from loosely social primates to a more orchestrated, almost hive like species
